  • MeasureEffect workflow for measurement, data management and reporting

Description

What is the PVM-1530 Pro suitable for?

The PVM-1530 is a multifunctional tester for measurements in solar parks. It is designed for tests according to EN 62446-1 and can support measurements on PV modules, strings and fault diagnostics.

Core measurement tasks include open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, insulation resistance on the DC and AC side, continuity of protective and equipotential bonding conductors, I-V curve measurement as well as current and power measurements with the CMP-1015-PV clamp meter.

For O&M teams, it is especially important that the tester, irradiance and temperature measurement with IRM-1 and MeasureEffect work together cleanly. Only then do the measurements become usable data structures and reliable reports, not just individual measured values.

MeasureEffect cloud

The PVM-1530 Pro delivers its value in the software workflow

The tester is part of the Sonel MeasureEffect™ platform. For O&M teams, this means that device operation is only one part of the workflow. Project structure, data storage, data management, device guidance and cloud-based reporting are just as relevant.

Data & communication

From the tester to structured evaluation

The PVM-1530 Pro is designed for a digital measurement and reporting process. What matters is that field team, office, cloud and reporting work with a clearly defined workflow - especially in combination with MeasureEffect.

Wi-Fi & MeasureEffect

Via Wi-Fi, the PVM-1530 Pro remains connected to and synchronised with the MeasureEffect cloud. Measurement data, project structure and further information can be integrated into the digital workflow.

Bluetooth to CMP-1015-PV

Bluetooth is used in particular for connection to the CMP-1015-PV clamp meter. This allows operating current and power values to be integrated into the measurement process.

reSYNC with IRM-1

If the connection to the IRM-1 is interrupted during measurement, environmental parameters can be added after the connection is restored and converted to STC conditions.

Unified interfaces

The PVM-1530 Pro comes with Sonel's unified interface system. USB and RJ-45 allow later expandability and flexible integration into other working environments via suitable adapters.

Standards & conformity

Normative classification of the PVM-1530 Pro

The Sonel PVM-1530 Pro is designed for PV tests, I-V curve measurements, insulation measurements and continuity tests in grid-connected PV systems. For O&M teams, the relevant question is not only which standards are listed, but how measurement, documentation, STC conversion and reporting are implemented in the specific solar park process.

PV testing & curve measurement

The PVM-1530 Pro supports testing tasks in the context of EN 62446-1 for documentation, commissioning tests and inspection of grid-connected PV systems. EN 61829 and EN IEC 60891 are relevant for I-V curve measurements and STC conversion.

Measurement safety & electrical tests

Standards from the IEC 61557 and IEC 61010 families are decisive for insulation measurement, continuity and electrical safety. In practical use, measurement category, voltage level, test leads, accessories and release procedure must match the respective measurement point.

CE, EMC & radio communication

CE classification includes requirements from the Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive and Radio Equipment Directive. In day-to-day O&M work, it is especially important that tester, IRM-1 communication, data transfer and software workflow are reliably integrated into project documentation.

Software & reporting

MeasureEffect as a central workflow element

The PVM-1530 Pro should not be evaluated only by its measurement ranges. For day-to-day O&M, it is crucial how data is stored, managed, checked and transferred into reports.

Classification

When the PVM-1530 Pro can be a good fit - and when to check first

The decision for a PV tester should always be considered in relation to measurement tasks, team structure, data management and reporting.

Can be a good fit if …

  • your team needs to perform PV measurements up to 1500 V DC in a utility-scale environment.
  • category 1 tests and I-V curve measurements should be covered in one system.
  • STC conversion with irradiance and temperature is relevant.
  • measurement data should not only be recorded, but structured, managed and made ready for reporting.

Check first if …

  • there is not yet a consistent plant, string or data structure.
  • several technicians with different levels of experience will work with the tester and cloud.
  • existing reporting requirements from operator, asset manager or customer vary significantly.
  • the implementation also includes accessories, training, support and Operational Readiness.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the PVM-1530 Pro

The following questions help classify when the Sonel PVM-1530 Pro is useful in solar park O&M and what role measurement practice, IRM-1, MeasureEffect, data structure and reporting play in operational use.

Is the PVM-1530 Pro suitable for measurements up to 1500 V DC?

Yes. The Sonel PVM-1530 Pro is designed for PV measurements up to 1500 V DC and is therefore especially relevant for utility-scale PV plants where string and plant structures with high DC voltages need to be tested.

In practical use, however, the maximum voltage is not the only decisive factor. The entire measurement process must fit the specific solar park: measurement task, measurement category, accessories, safety release, data structure and later documentation.

Which measurement tasks does the PVM-1530 Pro cover?

The PVM-1530 Pro supports central PV measurement tasks such as open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, insulation measurement, continuity testing, power values and I-V curve measurement.

In the O&M context, it is important not to view these measurements in isolation. Only through a clean project structure, clear assignment of measurement points, environmental parameters and traceable reporting do the measurement data become truly usable in operation.

What role does MeasureEffect play?

MeasureEffect is relevant for the digital workflow around measurement data, project structure, data storage, evaluation and reporting. This makes the software an important part of the overall measurement process - not just an add-on to the tester.

sunparq therefore considers MeasureEffect together with measurement practice, data management and reporting logic. The goal is that measurement data can be captured in a structured way, stored cleanly and later used transparently in reports.

What is the difference between the Pro set and the PVM-1530 alone?

The Pro set combines the PVM-1530 with IRM-1 and CMP-1015-PV. This allows not only electrical PV measurements, but also environmental parameters for STC conversion as well as operating current and power values to be integrated into the measurement workflow.

For O&M teams, this link is especially important because the quality of measurement results strongly depends on whether tester, irradiance, temperature, current measurement, time reference and data assignment are brought together cleanly.

Is the PVM-1530 Pro only a commissioning tester?

No. The PVM-1530 Pro can be relevant for commissioning and acceptance tests, but it is also interesting for recurring tests, fault diagnostics, performance classification and technical documentation in ongoing O&M operation.

The decisive factor is which measurement tasks occur regularly and how the results are then evaluated, documented and communicated to EPC, asset manager or internal technical teams.

Does sunparq offer training for the PVM-1530 Pro?

Yes. The training covers not only operation of the tester, but also measurement practice, typical errors, IRM-1 use, MeasureEffect, data structure, evaluation and reporting.

The goal is to turn product knowledge into an applicable O&M process. That is why the training does not only explain which button to press, but how measurements are prepared, performed, transferred, checked and turned into traceable reports.

How does sunparq support implementation?

sunparq can support the use of the PVM-1530 Pro through Assessment, Rollout, training, Operational Readiness or Critical Support. The focus is the entire measurement process - from measurement tasks and accessories through MeasureEffect structure to report reviews and support in ongoing operation.

Like all sunparq elements, this support is provided fully remotely and online. This keeps implementation cost-effective, saves travel time and conserves resources, while still working with the team's specific measurement tasks, data and O&M processes.
