Critical Support for PV measurement processes

When a measurement issue occurs in the field, a report has to be completed at short notice or measurement data does not look plausible, your team does not need general theory, but a fast technical assessment.

Critical Support helps your O&M team with time-critical questions around PV testers, measurement workflow, software, data structure and reporting. The goal is to understand the situation quickly, prioritize the next steps and avoid unnecessary downtime or wrong decisions.

  • for urgent measurement, software or reporting questions in day-to-day O&M
  • for fast technical classification of unclear measurement results
  • as an add-on to training, rollout or Operational Readiness

Why Critical Support?

When technical questions cannot wait

In ongoing solar park O&M, situations arise where standard training or a later review is not enough. A technician is in the field, measurement results look implausible, a software structure is unclear or a report must be prepared at short notice.

In these moments, the aim is not to rebuild the entire process. The aim is to classify the specific situation quickly: What is likely to be an operating, measurement, data or structure issue? What information is missing? What should be checked immediately? And which decision makes technical sense?

Critical Support complements Assessment, Rollout and Operational Readiness. While Operational Readiness stabilizes ongoing operations, Critical Support is intended for urgent cases where a fast technical assessment is needed.

Support areas

Where Critical Support can help

Critical Support focuses on specific, time-critical questions. The scope depends on how complex the situation is and which information is available.

Measurement issues in the field

Fast classification of conspicuous measurement values, unclear error messages, operating questions or uncertainty about the measurement workflow.

Measurement setup & accessories

Review of whether measurement setup, accessories, adapters, leads or device configuration fit the specific measurement task.

Software & cloud

Support with project structure, data transfer, exports, cloud questions or issues between measuring device, software and reporting.

Data review

Classification of existing measurement data: Are values plausible? Which data is missing? Which questions should be clarified before an assessment?

Reporting bottlenecks

Support when a report has to be completed, reviewed or structurally improved at short notice.

Decision preparation

Technical summary of the situation so that technical managers or O&M leads can prioritize the next steps properly.

Acute instead of continuous

Critical Support is designed for urgent individual cases

If your team regularly needs support, report reviews or onboarding, Operational Readiness is usually the more suitable framework. Critical Support applies when a specific question needs to be clarified quickly.

Prioritization

Classify urgency properly

Not every request is equally critical. Clear prioritization helps set realistic expectations and choose the right form of support.

P1 · Critical

Acute situation in the field or with a time-critical report where fast technical classification is needed. Response time and availability are agreed individually.

P2 · High

Important technical question with impact on measurement workflow, data assessment or reporting, but without immediate downtime. Suitable for short-term remote clarification.

P3 · Normal

Technical question, review or follow-up clarification without acute time pressure. These topics often fit better into Operational Readiness or a planned review session.

Process

How Critical Support works

The goal is to get a clear picture of the situation as quickly as possible. The better the initial data is prepared, the faster the technical classification can be made.

1

Request

You briefly describe the situation: measuring device, plant, measurement task, software status, error message, data situation and required clarification.

2

Prioritization

We classify whether it is a critical urgent case, a high-priority case or a normal review or support case.

3

Technical clarification

The situation is discussed remotely. Depending on the case, measurement data, screenshots, reports, software structure or the measurement setup are reviewed.

4

Next steps

You receive a clear recommendation on which check, correction, repeat measurement or process adjustment makes sense next.

Preparation

Which information helps with fast clarification?

Critical Support works best when your team can provide the most important information right away.

Measuring device & accessories

Device type, firmware or software version, accessories used, adapters, leads and relevant settings.

Measurement task

Which measurement was supposed to be performed? At which plant, string or measurement point did the question arise?

Issue pattern

Screenshots, photos, error messages, measurement values, repetitions and a short description of when the problem occurs.

Measurement data

Export files, raw data, report draft or example measurements if a data or reporting question needs to be clarified.

Time pressure

By when is an assessment needed? Is a technician still in the field or is it about a later recheck?

Decision context

Which decision depends on the clarification: repeat measurement, report approval, internal escalation or next deployment plan?

Who is it for?

When Critical Support is especially useful

Critical Support is suitable for teams that need fast technical orientation in a specific situation.

A good fit if …

  • your team is stuck with a specific measurement question.
  • measurement data or reports need to be assessed at short notice.
  • a technician in the field needs fast technical support.
  • software or cloud questions are blocking further work.
  • a technical decision needs to be prepared promptly.

Less suitable if …

  • a new measurement process should be built from the ground up.
  • an entire team needs a structured introduction.
  • regular reviews, onboarding or ongoing support are needed.
  • it is still unclear which measurement solution should be implemented.

Scope distinction

Which service module fits better?

Critical Support is not always the right entry point. Depending on the situation, Assessment, Rollout or Operational Readiness may be more appropriate.

Assessment

If you want to clarify in advance which measurement solution, software structure or implementation model makes sense for your team.

Rollout

If measuring device, software, data structure, training and reporting should be introduced as a working process in the team.

Operational Readiness

If your team needs ongoing support, report reviews, onboarding or process support after training or rollout.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Critical Support

Critical Support is intended for situations where unclear measurement results, software issues, missing data or time-critical reports need to be classified quickly - remotely, focused and with clearly agreed response times.

Is Critical Support a 24/7 emergency service?

No, not automatically. Critical Support means prioritized technical support for urgent measurement, software or reporting cases. Availability, response time, communication channel and time window are agreed individually in advance.

True standby outside regular business hours is possible, but must be defined and commissioned separately. Without such an agreement, Critical Support is not a 24/7 emergency service.

When is Critical Support useful?

Critical Support is useful when an O&M team or EPC needs fast technical classification: for example with implausible measurement values, problems with measuring device or software, missing data, urgent reports or questions from asset managers.

Typical cases are field escalations, measurement campaigns under time pressure, unclear data situations, software or export issues and situations where a fast technical assessment is needed for the next steps.

What is the difference to Operational Readiness?

Operational Readiness supports ongoing measurement operations regularly and predictably. It focuses on stable workflows, onboarding, report reviews, process updates and continuous operational capability.

Critical Support, in contrast, is intended for specific, time-critical individual cases. The focus is on fast classification, prioritization and support with an urgent question or escalation.

Can measurement data or reports be reviewed?

Yes. Measurement data, screenshots, export files, project structures, report drafts or error messages can be included in the technical assessment.

The better the initial information is prepared, the faster it can be assessed whether the issue is related to measurement, data structure, software, operation or a technically relevant finding.

Can Critical Support help directly in the field?

Yes, in many cases Critical Support can assist the team in the field remotely by phone, video or message. Like all sunparq services, Critical Support is generally provided remotely and online.

It is important that the team on site can describe the situation clearly and provide relevant information: measurement setup, measuring device used, error messages, screenshots, measurement values, plant structure and the goal of the measurement.

Which information should be provided before support starts?

Helpful information includes a short description of the situation, the measuring device and accessories used, relevant measurement values, screenshots, export files, report drafts, information on the plant structure and a clear question about which decision or assessment is needed.

For field cases, photos of the measurement setup, safety and plant status information and details of measurements already performed are also helpful. This allows the available support time to be used more effectively.

How are cost and response time defined?

Cost and response time depend on urgency, scope, time window, requested availability and the assessment required. These points are defined in advance so it is clear what support can be expected.

For recurring questions, regular report reviews or ongoing process support, Operational Readiness is usually easier to plan. Critical Support is especially suitable for urgent or particularly important individual cases.
